Personal Development begins with winning attitudes

I have known some successful people and I’m searching out my mind to discover what their attitudes are and I’m finding them strikingly different from the attitudes of the average person.

One of the things I’ve noticed is that they are precision thinkers is that their observations are not mere speculations of what might be or what fate is bound to hand us or what our destiny is. They think in terms of making things happen. To them it is not waiting for the other shoe to fall but it is making the right choices to control where it falls.

Things to them come about not by luck or happenstance but by the choices they make. So they are constantly making right choices not based on a speculation or guesswork but based upon knowledge. Research is a matter of routine to determine the best course of action. They don’t rely on hearsay or what is more popular but what is proven fact.

Thoughts are the seedbed for our actions. Successful people take care to let their thoughts germinate and grow and become a source of action. They don’t muddle their thoughts with drugs and alcohol and hatred and bitterness but nurture them in truth. Every great invention got its start in the seedbed of a precision thinker.

The successful people I’ve know have been dreamers who aspired for a better way. A better way of living separate from the ordinary, a way of life that enable them to live outside of the norm of the 9 to 5 regular job even though they might work at their dreams much longer than 9 to 5 they were engrossed in something meaningful to them that was an exciting adventure rather than a dreaded routine. Successful people know what their goals are and keep them ever before them and relentlessly pursue them. Their dreams are big and their thoughts match them.

To successful people a dream is a precursor to action. They enter into course of action after course of action without fear with the determination to see it through to the end regardless of the roadblocks or the pain along the way. To give up or quit is not in their vocabulary.

Priorities are an important part of a successful person’s life. Wasting precious time to them is like wasting money. So realizing what is important and what is not is a regular decision and acting on the priorities come first and the lesser things last.

Successful people are not reluctant to learn from other successful people; they make excellent students even though they may be extremely successful themselves. Learning is a routine part of life to them… They are lifetime students and learners. They never come across as a know it all but are willing to share what they know freely and at the same receive advice and instructions from others.

Successful people deal in facts and they realize that it is a fact they failures will come but they are to them stepping stone to things that do work rather than a discouragement. Instead of giving up because of fear and failure, they take the courage to continue on toward their goals.

The adversaries to success are numerous and the weak fall by the wayside and give up but not the successful; they are successful not always because they are so much better but because they didn’t quit. Quitting is one of the greatest causes of failure and not quitting is one of the greatest causes for success.

Successful people care for people and admire the accomplishment of others. They take time to learn from the success of others and incorporate it into their own plans. They are people with strong integrity. Honesty with them is an important ingredient in they success. They realize that reputation is of an essence in becoming successful. They are dependable and punctuality is first place in their nature. They don’t believe in wasting others time by causing them to wait for them to arrive.

Finally successful people are grateful people. They appreciate what they have and are content. Material things are secondary to things that really matter like family and relationships. They constantly express gratitude to others for what they do.

Now you may objectively examine yourself and see if your attitudes are in harmony with what it takes to be successful. If not don’t give up because successful people had to learn what it takes to succeed and it is a process of personal development. The things mentioned above are all tenants of personal development. So if you are short in one area, it can be improved upon if you are willing.

There are of course exceptions to the above but remember that success is not all about the amount of money a person makes but it is about the all around person that they have become.
