You Must First Believe In Yourself To Succeed!

I got the idea to write this article from another article that was in a newsletter that I receive entitled, “If you believe, you will succeed”. It is about a lady who lives in Tennessee and I will call her Sue Thomson, not her real name. Here is her story:

Sue is 68 years old and a year ago she took 17 different medications. She was taking drugs for high blood pressure, high cholesterol, seizures and depression and was also on oxygen 24/7. She cried when her doctor told her she would be on oxygen the rest of her life.

Sue made a rather strange decision considering her state of health; she decided to go to the gym and start an exercise program. She said that the first time she went to the gym she could barely climb the stairs to the front door.

She would strap on her oxygen tank and do a few exercises then rest for a while.

One day she met a personal trainer who would play a major role in her future health. He taught Sue what kind of foods to eat which included a lot of fruit and fresh vegetables and the right exercise program that best suited her needs.

Sue said that when she got home from the gym she felt so bad she had to go to bed for a while but after a while she begin to feel better and she kept going to the gym on a regular basis. Then she started laying her oxygen tank aside and used it only when she felt like she was getting out of breath. But soon she got where she was free of the tank.

After a year of the gym and new diet Sue had lost 84 pounds and had shed most of the medication and what remained was on a reduced dosage.

Now she can climb stairs like anyone and goes shopping at the mall for hours as before she had to sit and rest for periods of time and it made her hurt all over just to make a trip to the mall.

The article included a before and after picture and it is amazing how much younger and better she looks now.

“The difference that makes the difference”

I think in Sue’s case it was “The difference that makes the difference” and that was her belief in herself that she could do it and didn’t give up until she did.

What separates those who succeed from those who don’t is they have a different outlook; they believe they can do something and succeed and are willing to feed their minds with the knowledge and information that they need to be successful. They are hungry to learn everything they can. They learn from others who have succeeded at what their interest is and copy their actions. They never stop; their energy and momentum carries then through every challenge. They are not willing to settle for anything less than success.

They realize that energy and motivation alone is not enough and so they couple it with the tools and information that will give them a competitive edge over others. But it all started with a belief in self without which anyone is destined to fail. Having the right mindset is the first attribute needed for success.

You have what it takes already

There is a great quote, “Everything you need is already in you”, Tony Robbins. How true it is but those things have to be recognized, believed and developed. You have to believe that you can accomplish whatever it is that your setting out to do, whether it is an online business or a traditional business.

In case you are thinking, I don’t know what to do, just start doing what you know to do and as you learn more just add it as you go along. Don’t wait until you think you have learned it all.

Who have you decided to become?

I like this quote, “You are now at a crossroads. This is your opportunity to make the most important decision you will ever make. Forget your past. Who are you now? Who have you decided you really are now? Don’t think about who you have been. Who are you now? Who have you decided to become? Make this decision consciously. Make it carefully. Make it powerfully.”

Most marriages fail because of majoring on trivial things that could be easily solved and so do most people fail because they major on the minor.

A good start for anyone would be to sit down and make a list of thing in their life that they no longer will tolerate and then start making the necessary changes. Your level of resolve will determine your future success. Your determination and consistent efforts will separate you from   those who live a life filled with failure and instead help you to reach your dreams. Remember what Henry Ford said, “If you think you can or you think you can’t you are right.”

We only pass this way once, make the very best of it

We only get one stab at life so why not live it up; enjoy yourself; have fun; learn from your mistakes and don’t take yourself too seriously. We are only human who have troubles and challenges but just decide to enjoy the process. Love people, have friends and be loyal to those around you. Be the best example of a human that you can possibly be.

The truth of the matter is that you can accomplish most anything if you will do these things:

  • Have a clear goal and understanding of what it is you want to accomplish
  • Take whatever action is necessary to achieve it
  • Change your course of action if something is not working
  • Acquire the tools and information you need

Remember that it is not your past that determines your future but the decisions and action you are taking now, today. When you learn that something works take massive action. The secret to success is finding something that works and then doing it over and over and over. Success is the ability to take action. It is the opposite of ever learning and never doing.

Turn your life into a magnificent masterpiece

I challenge you to start painting your own life and turn it into a magnificent masterpiece. Be a living example to others of a person who walks the talk. Stop complaining about your troubles. If you want no troubles, join those in the cemetery. Dale Carnegie said, to paraphrase, avoid the three Cs, complaining, condemning and criticizing.

Success someone said is doing what you want to do, when you want, where you want, with whom you want, as much as you want. I think that is part of it but I also believe it is the contribution we make in the lives of others and the kind of person we become that determines true success. Life is a gift from God, with God given privileges, opportunity, and responsibility. It is our purpose to give something back by becoming more and more of a loving, caring human being.

Finally, You Must First Believe In Yourself To Succeed! Believe in yourself enough to take massive action to reach your goals and never settle until you reach your dreams.
