On this Memorial Day, 2011, let us never forget the price that has been paid for our freedom. It was America that gave birth to “Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness” and has been the brave men and women of this nation who have bought it and sustained it. Patriotism is still alive and well in this great nation regardless of its enemies. So as we give tribute to the great Americans who paid the ultimate price protecting the freedom that we sometimes take for granted, let’s not forget the words of one of America’s great soldiers, “It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who have died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived.” General George S Patton, Jr

It was somewhat surprising to see all the obscene and negative quotes concerning patriotism that have been posted on the Internet. Those above came from a bygone aria when men were men. It seems that patriotism is somewhat out of vogue at least with some. I thank God however that there are still many patriots who are willing to fight and die if necessary for the freedom and liberty of America.

My heart goes out to the men and women who have sacrificed so much in recent years in the fight against terrorism. I am thankful for President Obama and the Special Forces who in a stand for righteousness took out Osama Ben Laden. He was an evil, evil to the core man who directed the murder of thousands of innocent lives across the world and thought he did God a favor in doing so. The network of terror he organized has cost America alone an estimated three trillion dollars and more importantly thousands of the lives of our people. The world will never be the same again and never will be as safe as before and the fight will go on with these evil, murderous,  radicals for as long as it stands.

When we think of patriotism we think in terms of men and women who would fight to the very end rather than to live under a cruel dictatorship who forces its people to abide in their way of believing without any tolerance; a dictatorship that demeans its women and brings hardships on its people and death to any who resist.

The only reason we have freedom, liberty and justice in America is because we have never had a shortage of the courageous and the brave and bless God I hope we never do. It is not the majority in America that are making the most noise, who are whining and complaining about every move America makes to preserve our freedom, it is those who are blinded and unthankful to the price that has been required to maintain freedom and who had rather cowardly retreat into isolation and hope that no one notices us or bothers us. This was a predominant attitude in our nation when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. It does not work!

We can either go after our enemies and defeat them or wait until they are killing us on our own soil. I for one had much rather go after them than having the enemy killing our families and our children in our own homes.

Throughout the Bible there were wars and fighting against evil forces and so it will continue until the Lord returns himself to put an end to it as well Satan himself who is the author of all evil. War is a horrible, terrible thing, but it is a reality that we will have to live with until the end. It is either stand and fight evil or be dominated by it. The truth is that most of history has been dominated by it.

It was America that instituted a new way of life with “Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness”. It greaves me when those who call for their rights and enjoy their freedom but cowardly refuse to stand with this nation and defend it at all cost. Should our freedom ever be lost, it is lost; yes it is true that America is the defender of freedom across the world and our determination along with a few allies has preserved it and kept it in force. If we should ever lose our determination to preserve it, it will be gone forever.

We must remain strong, united and determined as a nation to stand against all unrighteousness. We must defeat all evil with whatever force it requires. We must forever keep 911 alive in our memory. We must never let our enemies hit us again while we are relaxed or asleep. We must be diligent and strong and prepared. The price will be high but there is no other choice.

Conclusion: I would like to live in a world where there is no war, no evil and no fighting but that is not to be as long as there are evil men who live on this earth, who want to force their evil on everyone else. To believe otherwise is a false hope that is bound to be dashed against the ground. To have any sort of hope will come at a great sacrifice and loss of life of many of our young and our brave. In one battle alone during the invasion of Normandy (D-Day) more than 9,000 men were either killed or wounded but more than a 100,000 troops and allies began a march across Europe that brought an end to the war. That has been the terrible price for as long as this great nation has stood and only if we are willing to continue to pay the price can we stand united and strong. Remember,” It was America that gave birth to “Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness” and it will be America that sustains it.
