Success is Thinking and doing things different from most others.

Today a lot of people try to keep up with the Jones’s.  They think the Jones’s are successful because they are lucky, but it isn’t luck at all. The Jones’s are successful because they are different from just about everyone else. They are successful because they are doing some things that lead to success. Here are the 10 things that will make you different from just about everyone else; 10 ways that successful people think differently:

1.  Change your way of thinking from the way most people think:

  • What’s in it for me?
  • What is the least that I can get by with doing?
  • Is it free?
  • Is it hard?
  • Does it take much time?
  • Do I have to talk on the phone?
  • Will I have to go to meetings?
  • Will I have to miss my favorite TV program?

*Your way of thinking: I’m prepared to do whatever it takes!

2.  Successful people show up instead of making excuses like:

  • I was planning to but something came up.
  • Oh I forgot.
  • I was just too tired.
  • I had a head ache.
  • I had to go to bed early because I had to get up early the next day.
  • Maybe next time.

*Your way or Thinking: If I make a commitment, I always keep it if at all possible.

3.  Successful people are willing to try new things while others are unwilling to step out of their comfort zone and even give it a chance:

  • Oh I’ve never done that before.
  • I’m afraid I wouldn’t be able to do it.
  • Maybe in the future I’ll try.
  • I heard someone else tried that and failed.
  • I don’t like to make changes.
  • My friends would make fun of me.

*Your way of thinking: I like to try new things even if I do fail at first.

4.  Successful people minimize their thoughts about themselves and think about those around them while the unsuccessful think only of themselves:

  • Can this make me a lot of money?
  • Can I use others to help me build my business?
  • Forget others, I have my own needs.
  • What I want and need comes first.
  • I could care less about anyone else.
  • People don’t care about me, why should I care about them.

*Your way of thinking: I truly care for others and want to help them to succeed.

5.  Successful people make no excuses while the unsuccessful can find an excuse for not doing anything:

  • I just don’t have the time right now.
  • That takes too much time.
  • I’ll probably get around to doing it later.
  • I don’t want to spend any money.
  • All my spare time is already tied up.
  • I plan on making some changes next year maybe.
  • Talk to me at a later time.

*Your way of thinking: I refuse to let flimsy excuses hold me back.

6.  Successful people set aside their feeling and operate on facts and with precision thinking while the unsuccessful are controlled by their feelings:

  • I just don’t feel like it.
  • I feel like I just shouldn’t take the chance.
  • I feel like I need to stay right where I am.
  • I feel secure here.
  • He hurt my feelings.
  • I’m going to wait until I feel right about it.
  • I just don’t feel good about it.

*Your way of thinking: My feelings are not in control; I am and besides feelings are fickle.

7.  Successful people always make it a point to do right by other people while some make it a point to use others and abuse them:

  • I don’t care what happens to others as long as I get what I want.
  • So what if it hurts them as long as it doesn’t hurt me.
  • Let them take care of their own problems; I have my own worries to take to care of.
  • They wouldn’t help me why should I help them?
  • This is a dog eat dog world, every one for themselves.
  • I don’t owe them anything.

*Your way of thinking: I don’t want to cause anyone harm but always do right by them and be of help to them.

8.  Successful people realize that that success is not to be accomplished by completely by them while some think they can go it alone:

  • I don’t need anyone.
  • I had rather just do it myself.
  • I don’t want to be bothered with others.
  • People are a pain the neck.
  • I don’t like to talk to people.
  • I had rather just to be alone.
  • I don’t want to answer to anyone.

Your way of thinking: I need the friendship and support of others; it makes my life so much more interesting and it gives me a lot of gratification to be able to help someone else succeed.

9.  Successful people have great expectations of themselves and others while others are negative and consider themselves to be a loser:

  • I just don’t want any responsibility.
  • I never had anything anyway so why care.
  • I know that I can’t so I won’t even try.
  • I can never do anything.
  • It takes money to make money and I don’t have money so why try.
  • Money is the root of all evil.

Your way of thinking: Others have done it why not me? I am determined to succeed and am willing to pay the price.

10.  Successful people make time for themselves and their family and friends while others spend their spare time watching sports on TV or being involved with selfish endeavors:

*Your way of thinking: What is the use of doing well if you can’t share it with those you love? Relationships are the dearest and most valuable possessions that we have.

Do these10 Ways That Successful People Think differently describe how you think? Maybe not for most, but that is what personal development is about, learning to make changes in how we think.
