The mind is the master of our presence and our future. Today, more than ever, due to years of research, we better understand the way our mind works and how to make it function better.

The mind charts out future

No computer in the world regardless of size has the capacity of the human mind. It stores and recalls billions of thoughts that go back to our very beginning. It uses these thoughts to aid us in making decisions.

All the issues of life are determined, our success or failure, our happiness or unhappiness, our attitude and our philosophy all formulated from the vast reserves of the mind.

How are the programs of the mind formulated?

It is somewhat similar to how a computer programmer would do a lot of research and then write a computer program entering a vast amount of data. The computer then is able to sort through that data to arrive at different functions.

With the mind it is everything that we experience, the books we read, the teachers we have, the people we meet daily. Our family and friends all have a part in entering the data of the mind.

Our mind is like a computer chip that records each bit of information and the information is kept and stored for future reference. Our mind is divided into two parts, the conscious and the subconscious. All information is stored in one or the other. The conscious mind stores things that we can easily recall but the subconscious mind even though it is just as real as the conscious is not conscious to us yet plays a important part in how our life progresses.

To aid in decision making, the mind is able to go to the library of the subconscious mind and in a millisecond scan billions of recorded thoughts and bits of information in order to make the decision. Since this is the only library of information available to the mind, the mind will always use it to arrive at any decision.

Why do some think in a total different way than others?

People think differently depending on what is recorded in the library of their subconscious mind. A person who is raised in a home where the parents practiced and taught positive thinking and actions will form their decisions from that information that is recorded in the library of their mind.

What about a person who has not been so blessed but on the contrary has had only negative mentors? Can they change the way their minds have been programmed and delete information that is objectionable, like we would on our computer? The good news is yes! That is the object of personal development. Personal development is the process of changing the way we think and see things. Changing negative thoughts that have been stored for years is a slow process that can take a matter of time. However making little changes a few along adds up to tremendous gains over time.

Our philosophy of life will be remolded, our attitude will begin to change and the way we handle all of life events well take on a new approach. True it does require an everyday, consistent effort but is worth every bit of the time and effort it takes in terms of the quality of life.

A new philosophy develops a new perception of life

Out of the philosophy of the mind we create our reality of life. For the most part we are in control of the outcome of our life by the daily choices we make. Few things happen by accident. If you are waiting for your boat to arrive….sorry, it is not coming unless you have ordered it by your choices.

Through our philosophy of life we are daily creating our reality of life and our future. We form the right attitude, take appropriate actions and then experience the results. We develop trust and beliefs all based on the choices we make.

The Slight Edge

We cannot depend on good luck; we must take the actions that insure the right results. Failure to take positive action on what is known to be right and best is the greatest cause of failure. The more positive information that we can store in the library of our mind the easier it is to make right choices.

The mind is our miracle that works for us to create the kind of life experiences we desire or it can work against us to bring us down and it all depends on how we program it, the kind of influence the people around us have on us and our determination.

Don’t say, well someday I’ll start doing the things you are talking about. Someday is the eight day of the week; it never comes. Start right now; make a list of the things in your life that you want to change and start changing them. Start you own library of self help books. You can find them at success.com or Amazon’s collection of personal development classics: You can start with two classics now available as free eBooks: “Think and grow rich” and “Acres of diamonds”. Read 10 to 15 pages every day until it becomes a habit (it takes 21 days to form a new habit.); the typical person watches 30 hours a week of TV. Take some of that time to invest in yourself and your future. Your income is largely contingent on your level of personal development. Jim Rohm’s classic quote, “We attract success by the person we become”.

Read, read and again I say read and stock the library of your mind with new, constructive and positive thoughts. Surround yourself with successful, positive people who pull you up and avoid those who only think negative who will pull you down to their way of thinking.
