Did God Create the Corona Virus?

Written by Jimmie Burroughs

Genesis 1:31, “And God saw everything that he had made, and, behold, it was very good.” Yes, this included viruses. Science indicates that viruses do play a good part in the life of humans along with bacteria, but they can also be harmful to our health as Covid-19. Even though, when God first created things, they were all intended to be for the good of man; however, all that has changed, and now all things are not always for the good of man.

When sin entered the world, everything changed: Romans 8:22-23 “For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. 23And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.” What Paul was referring to was, from the time sin entered the earth until now and even up until the time we enter heaven, there will be pain and suffering and not only for all creation, including unbelievers, but for the redeemed also.

God created lions and they can be dangerous and deadly, but they were not created to be that way in the beginning and will not always remain that way. Isaiah 11:6 tells us, “The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them,” (KJV). When will that time be? It happens in the kingdom age when Jesus sets up His Millennial reign here on earth.

It may also be noted, man was not created to die, but when sin entered, he died a spiritual death (separation from God) and then was subject to physical death. Along with that came the curse of sin and all the harmful germs, bacteria and viruses, that can cause death.

We live in an evil world cursed because of sin, and some may wonder, as with Covid-19, since God created all things, did He also create evil. The answer is no! God is perfectly righteous and therefore cannot do evil and certainly not create evil. How then can we explain the presence of evil? In the first place, evil is not a creation but a result. A good example of this is “COLD,” which neither is a creation. “The lowest temperature that is theoretically possible, at which the motion of particles that constitutes heat would be minimal. It is [absolute] zero on the Kelvin scale, equivalent to –273.15°C or –459.67°F” [1]. This is the result when all heat is removed.

On the other hand, “HEAT” is a creation and has no limit. “The visible part of the sun is about 10,000 degrees Fahrenheit (5,500 degrees Celsius), while temperatures in the core reach more than 27 million F (15 million C), driven by nuclear reactions” [2].

Cold is therefore a result just as evil is a result. When righteousness is removed, evil is the result.

What many don’t realize is, the things we face in life, such as Covid-19, are not our greatest problem, even though Covid-19 has played havoc the world over, costing lives, misery, a lost economy and at the expense of trillions of dollars. Our greatest problem is a spiritual one; it concerns where you will spend eternity when you die? According to the Bible, it will be either heaven or hell. It is up to each person to decide which it will be. That is a sobering thought that puts all other thoughts in the category of trivial in comparison.

So, what will your decision be? You can say, “no I’m not interested; I don’t believe in that stuff,” and you certainly have the right to make that choice, but what are you basing that decision on? Is it on what someone else has said, or is it from your own mind? Since you and I, along with everyone else, only have a fractional amount of knowledge compared to all knowledge, would it be practical to acknowledge that in all that vast knowledge that exists outside our own, there is a heaven and a hell and God who has His requirements for going to heaven? It is not at all logical to balance our decision on so little when it affects so much, something as crucial as our eternal welfare. I accepted Jesus as savior many years ago and have never looked back. I believe with all my heart I’m right in making that decision. However, if I am wrong, what have I lost? Nothing. What if you are wrong if you deny Jesus, and you deny what the Bible says about heaven and hell? You have everything to lose! You face God’s judgement and eternal separation from God.

You might say, I do believe there is a God in heaven, but I need to think about it and maybe later. Think about this, do you have any guarantee there will be a later? We are only held here by a thin thread, just one germ or one heartbeat away from death and eternity. That is why the Bible says, “Today is the day of salvation.”

It is not my intention to scare you, even though you should be very concerned. My intention is only to warn you with the hope you will decide today to receive Jesus into your life. You won’t be doing me a favor by doing that, but you will be doing yourself an eternal favor. I have put together a step-by-step guide, based on the Bible, to explain the things you need to do to have an eternal relationship with God. Millions, the world over, have followed steps just like these; why not you, and why not right now? Just CLICK HERE for the free information.
