The Destructive Nature of Woke Culture

Today, there are many talks about “woke culture,” what it means, and the issues connected with it. Woke is a slang word for awake and, in the modern sense, means to be aware of racial injustice, racism, and discrimination.

The political far left is emphasizing several goals connected to the woke culture, which seem to have very little to do with injustice, racism, and discrimination, but instead is focused on destroying the present American culture and replacing it with something radical. These goals include abolishing the nuclear family, anti-religion, rewriting the Constitution, Cancel Culture, and Social Justice. It also includes repealing free speech, abolishing Capitalism and endorsing Socialism, introducing neutral genderism, defunding law enforcement, and reducing or eliminating criminals’ punishment; It is scary that the present Democratic Administration is leaning toward the liberal left and implementing things that supports their radical agenda.

The big question is, how do any of the things above actually benefit racial justice. The whole idea of a woke culture has become so pervasive so quickly that it has caught the nation off guard, and I believe many do not understand the dangers it poses. The support for the woke culture is coming from the government, media, education, entertainment, and sports. It has become a movement of deception, seemingly with the intent of destroying the culture this nation has celebrated since its inception and replacing it with ideas so foreign that it becomes an absurdity.

Abolishing the Nuclear Family

This misconception of culture began with Hilary Clinton’s idea that it was the village’s responsibility to raise children. This idea contradicts the Biblical plan for the nuclear family found in many verses throughout the Bible. The definition of the nuclear family is “a couple and their dependent children, regarded as a basic social unit.” While the word nuclear does not appear in Scripture, the essence of that design is. From the biblical perspective, many verses deal with subjects relating to the family, such as love, family values, raising children, facing loss and death, and much more. God’s plan is that humans live as a family unit. 

Because sin entered the human race, God knew there would be many problems within the family. Therefore, He provided guidance and wisdom on how to deal with each situation. It is God’s purpose to protect and bless the family. Below are a few of the Bible verses related to the family: 

• “[ Children] honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the earth,” Exodus 20:1 (KJV).
• ” My son, keep thy father’s commandment, and forsake not the law of thy mother: land which the Lord thy God giveth thee,” Proverbs 6:20 (KJV).
• “But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman [is] the man; and the head of Christ [is] God,” 1 Corinthians 11:3 (KJV).
• “Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the Fruit of the womb is his reward. 4As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth. 5Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate,” 1 Corinthians 11:3-5 (KJV).
• “Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it,” Ephesians 5:25 (KJV).
• “God created man in His own image…male and female He created them. Then God blessed them, and God said to them, ‘Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth” Genesis 1:27, 28, (NKJV).

Denigrate & Disparage Religion

When the pilgrims came to this country, they bore great hardships because they wanted religious freedom. Our nation’s forefathers stood for religious liberty and forged our laws and the Constitution of the United States on Biblical principles. 

Some time ago, I visited the nearly three-century-old Burton Church at Old Williamsburg, Virginia. Inscribed on the family pews, where they sat for worship, were the names of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Patrick Henry, Benjamin Franklin, and others who were the founding forefathers of this nation. Those are the names that the woke culture wants removed from places of prominence. 

Today the media mocks Christians and accuses them of racism. The Supreme Court ordered the Bible and prayer excluded from the public schools. The ten commandments are no longer allowed in the public square; if woke culture has its ways, Christianity and Christian doctrines will be censored and outlawed. 

The positive attributes associated with the Christian faith include love, integrity, and service, which are at the heart of the lives of individuals, families, and communities across the nation. The attack on Christianity is increasing across the world. In 2015, only one nation, North Korea, was fully anti-Christian and a dangerous place for Christians. Today there are 11 such nations. Will America join them?

One of America’s leading scholars on religion and politics, R.R. Reno, believes our society is on the brink of collapse. He warns, “If America isn’t restored to a Christian society, our nation and culture will quickly descend to a lawless, unhappy, shallow, and brutal place. This space will be divided even more between rich, poor, vulnerable, and elite demagogues. While these things can be very scary to think about, we do have hope. While we can see that America is falling and failing, there is something that can save us. This begins with a renewal of Christian ideals. These include things like integrity, compassion, hard work, and love. If we really want to restore America at this pivotal time, Christianity’s public influence needs to be restored.”

Rewriting the Constitution

The Constitution of the United States ensures the personal rights of the people. The Constitution can be changed or amended when needed. An amendment proposal must be put forward, approved, and ratified by the two houses of Congress and the state legislatures. The U.S. Constitution has been amended 27 times since adopted on September 17, 1787.The following are some of the crucial amendments:

• The 13th Amendment outlawed slavery.
• The 14th Amendment gave blacks citizenship. 
• The 15th Amendment gave blacks the right to vote.
• The 19th Amendment gave women the right to vote.

The Constitution guarantees several things we may take for granted:

• The freedom of speech 
• The freedom of religion 
• The right to own property
• The right to privacy 
• The right to due process and many other rights 

The woke movement is yet to explain how canceling any of the Constitution can help social justice.

Cancel Culture

According to recent polls by Amazon, MTurk, and Prolific Academic, liberals want to change the culture. Some of those changes are listed below:

• Change the National Anthem
• Change Museum quotes
• Change the Constitution
• Turn Parks back to nature
• Rewrite History book quotes
• Remove certain statues
• Replace certain buildings
• Destroy Mount Rushmore
• Rename certain streets
• Rename some towns
• Redesign the American flag
• Change the country’s name
• Rename states
• Change the grid system
• Redesign the Statue of Liberty
• Change the language

Note: Not all liberals want these changes. Each change is noted by the percentage of those wanting a particular change that ranges from 7%, starting at the bottom of the list and going upward to 81% in favor. For example, only 7% want a language change, while 81% want a change in the National Anthem. 

Social Justice

I think we all would agree that social justice is a noble cause. However, the present movements to try and gain social justice are not. For instance, the “Black Lives Matter” is Marxism in action and does not promote social justice. So far, all it has done is induce riots, cause injury and death, destroy public and private buildings and police cars, loot goods from private merchants, and desecrate public streets with the name in letters 30 feet high.

Abolish Free Speech

In 2020, social media took it upon itself to decide what could be said on their public platform and what could not be said. The President of the United States, President Trump, was one of the censored and expelled. Ironically other notorious offenders of human rights from Iran and other countries were allowed to continue. 

Enforcing Political Correctness

Political Correctness has been around for a while. It is probably the woke movement’s primary means of changing culture to coincide with the far-left view. The definition of political correctness: “avoidance of action, perceived to insult, or marginalize certain groups.”

If it were only respect and civility in consideration, a reasonable person would not oppose it. But that is not the case. There are other agendas involved, which coopted with political correctness make it harmful. One movement is to oppose anyone who has a different view. Political correctness sees everything through the lens of hurt feelings, racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia. For example, Christians are not allowed to stand for what the Bible claims concerning homosexuality. The woke label on anyone who refuses to accept the homosexual lifestyle as an alternative is homophobia and endangers them of being charged with a hate crime. They refuse to be challenged on any of their beliefs. They have only one way, their way, when it comes to tolerance or social justice with no exceptions, even when it includes ignoring the rights of others. Their goal is to censor and intimidate all who hold dissenting views.

The term Political Correctness came from the Marxist-Leninist vocabulary; in 1917, following the Bolshevik takeover of Russia. The communists used it for anyone opposing the idea and adherence to communist policy. The Woke Culture uses Political Correctness for the same reason: to silence all critics and force Americans to conform to their ideology of what American culture should be.

Abolishing Capitalism & Endorsing Socialism

In the purest sense, it is either Capitalism or Socialism; generally, you can’t have both at the same time. The opposite of Capitalism and its only alternative is Socialism. All you have to do to determine which is the best is to study the history of Socialism. Socialism has failed where ever it has existed. If the far-left radicals are allowed to have their way, you can count on a robust Federal Government controlling everything. You, the individual, will no longer have a say in anything. Big government will make your discissions for you. 

On July 4, 2021, we celebrated 245 years of independence. That is 245 years of freedom, which has been protected over the years by men and women willing to sacrifice their lives. For the last two and a half Centuries, the American Dream has been centered on Capitalism. The new world provided opportunities never before known, which directly resulted from the free market economy. Capitalism centers on the economic system that gives rise to competition, producing economic growth and opportunities for everyone. Today, Capitalism often receives blame for the corruption found in corporations, politics, income inequalities, and other woes of our society, but Capitalism is not the problem. People are the blame.

Introducing Neutral Genderism

The woke culture believes that children should choose their genders. Today, transgenderism and gender fluidity are promoted in public schools. There are dozens of genders to choose from to suit every person’s desire. Sadly, it is encouraged to give children puberty blockers and sex-change surgery to any child who wants it even without the parent’s consent. Children are not mature enough to make life-altering decisions with radical intervention surgery, which is not reversible. Such early decisions can ruin a person’s life later on when they realize they made a grave mistake.

Defunding Police &

Reducing or Eliminating the Punishment of Criminals

“When rioters cry to defund the police, what they really want is to destroy the rule of law. If their demands are met, there will be no police and no peace,” Gary Isbell. This is real. I just watched a video where AOC, congress woman from New York, stated that the carceral system should be canceled. What that means is all jail and prison sentences should be annulled and halted.

America is presently facing rioters and others demanding defunding or eliminating the police and dismantling the prison system, which would destroy the rule of law. America as we know it would cease to exist. If things are allowed to continue in the direction they are headed, America is in real danger. What it is doing is creating a vacuum to be filled by Socialism. What America needs to realize is police and law enforcement are not the problem. We need more vigorous law enforcement to solve the rising crime and lawlessness in cities all across America. It is hard to imagine what the world would come to with no rule of law and police to enforce it.

Gross lawlessness occurred in the aftermath of the death of George Floyd. Violent rioters looted, destroyed, and terrorized the nation. The attempt by police to quell the riots and restore safety for citizens resulted in the left and the media calling for defunding the police. Strangely many governors and liberal mayors joined that call. 

The mayor of Seattle, Washington, said she would allow the Capitol Hill area in her city to be taken over and governed by the rioters without the presence of law enforcement. She was responsible for causing untold damage to the economy, community, and private property. The crime rate is now so high in Seattle that the mayor is now calling for the hiring of more police. 

Across the country, in 2021, there was an estimated $5 billion in destruction caused by rioters. This kind of lawlessness needs confronted by a strong police force and certainly not a weak defunded one. Instead, the left still insists on defunding or elimination the police and funneling that money into social services to surrender to the mob’s demands for so-called social justice.

The Los Angeles City Council voted to reduce the police department’s annual budget by $150 million. The result is 2021: 141 people murdered; this is a 22-percent increase over the same period in 2020.

The most outrageous action taken was by the Minneapolis City Council, who voted unanimously to dismantle its police department. It now has to determine how that is possible, but before that can be done, as required by law, there must be a referendum to confirm it. Hopefully, the good people of Minneapolis will vote it down.

Other cities have joined this insane move to defund police. The New York City Mayor agreed to decrease his city’s police department’s budget by $1 billion and freeze the hiring of 1,160 new officers desperately needed to confront skyrocketing crime. According to the crime report, “Overall crime in New York City rose by 22% in May 2021 compared with May 2020, driven largely by a 46.7% increase in robbery and a 35.6% increase in grand larceny.”

The Salt Lake City Council voted to reduce the police budget by $5.3 million. Baltimore, Maryland, cut their police budget by $22.4. The President of the council said this was just the start of what is to come. Portland, Oregan City Council, reduced their police budget by $16 million and eliminated 84 police-related jobs. Lastly, Seattle, Washington City Council cut $76 million from their police budget and has become the hot spot for violence. It will be interesting to see the long-term results of this bad leadership, which can only be chaos and increased violence and crime. How can these measures make cities safer and keep order? According to studies, increasing police presence reduces crime.

Critical Race Theory

“This isn’t just insane, it’s dangerous; it’s incredibly dangerous,” Nikki Haley. Nikki is the former U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. reacting to current Secretary of State Antony Blinken inviting the U.N. to investigate racism in America. That would be like asking Adolf Hitler, where he is still living, to come to America and explore America’s attitude toward Israel and the Jews. 

This is ironic and embarrassing considering the severe human rights violations and abuse among member countries like China, Cuba, and Venezuela. What a ridiculous thing to do inviting the U.N. to investigate “the freest, best country in the world.”

So, it is with the “Critical race theory,” which implies that “this country is irreparably racist and that white people are irreparably racist, there’s nothing they can ever do, except become anti-racist and address their white fragility.”

Of course, we are to be tolerant of others regardless of race or creed. The Bible teaches us to love our fellow man. That is what should be taught in our schools and not the ridiculous “Critical race theory.”

Ideologies such as the Critical race theory hold that the United States is inherently racist. Skin color becomes a password to create and maintain social, economic, and political inequalities between whites and nonwhites. According to critics, it relegates all white people to oppressors and people of color to victims.

School Boards across the nation are meeting to debate this controversial doctrine and limit its teaching in public schools—however, many champions the idea or concepts related to it. 

I believe that neither the far left nor, for that matter, the far-right pose a severe threat to democracy. The freedom-loving people of America would not permit such radicalism to overtake America. However, we do need to be alert to what these radical entities are proposing. Our knowledge and our vote are what can keep this country the free, democratic nation it has always been. However, more than anything else America needs to repent of its sins and return to God recognizing Him as the protector of our freedom and our nation. If this is not forthcoming, this nation is in grave danger that God will back away and leave us to ourselves, which could mean self-destruction.
