Is America abandoning freedom for Socialism?

Warnings of Socialism are everywhere in plain view, and we have seen a sample of it under the Biden administration as well as its results: inflation is the highest in over 40 years; the price of gas has risen to record highs; the cost of food, clothing and most everything else has gone up; the Southern border is wide open, and violent crime has surged across America. All this is a direct result of an effort through progressive policies to do away with capitalism and move America closer to Socialism, which comes at the loss of certain liberties and the free market.
Last week a Democratic state Senate candidate in New York, backed by Ocasio Cortez (AOC) D N.Y., celebrated her primary election victory by declaring “socialism wins,” and stated they would not stop until all of New York was socialists.
What is happening in Washington, D.C., right now is scary. Presently the liberals are only two votes away in the Senate from adding states to the union, packing the Supreme Court with liberal judges, federalizing elections, dropping the filibuster, and opening borders with amnesty for illegals. Crime is rampant across America due to liberal District Attorneys and judges; the first, second, and third Amendments (Due Process Rights) are under attack. The goal is to change this country forever by tearing down all of America’s values and traditions and replacing them with Socialism.
In an interview, XI Van Fleet shared her first-hand experience of the degradation of Socialism: “I just want to say it’s so ironic. 36 years ago, I run away from Socialism when I left China to come to this great country for freedom. Today, so many Americans [are] abandoning freedom and arriving into Socialism. They have no idea what Socialism is about. I lived under Mao’s Socialism. When the Government controls everything and makes all the decisions big and small and decide how much grain, meat [and] cooking oil I could have. What I should learn in school, where I should live, and what job I should have and how I should think. In the socialist society I lived under, there was no choices. There is no freedom. And that’s what people do not know. Socialism becomes such a diluted word and it’s intentional. I can tell you, China is a socialist country. Cuba is a socialist country and so is North Korea. They are a socialist country run by communist parties. And what’s the difference? What’s the difference between Socialism and communism? Not much. Socialism is the initial stage of communism, according to Karl Marx.”
Venezuela is a relative newcomer to Socialism. Americans need to understand what happened when Socialism took over Venezuela: I talked to three lawyers who had just arrived in America from Venezuela. They left because Socialism had made their life so difficult. Only one spoke English, and none could practice law in the states, so they would have to start at the bottom in another career.
Venezuela was once the wealthiest country in Latin/South America until it moved to Socialism. They have the world’s most significant oil reserves and could be one of the most prosperous countries in the world, but instead, Venezuela is among the poorest in Latin/South America. The socialist Government promised low-cost food, housing, healthcare, lower crime, and education, but none of that happened. Instead, the country spiraled out of control in a short time, and the economy crashed. In their march to Socialism, they reshaped the county just as the liberals attempt to do in America. Listed below is what happens to a nation that adopts Socialism:
- Gun Control is accepted as a way to reduce crime: Venezuela is an example to America of what to expect when the Government takes away the guns of honest citizens. Crime did not decrease as the Government promised because the cartels and criminals did not turn in their weapons; therefore, crime exploded. Two years after gun control took effect, homicides hit record levels, and by 2018, there was no rule of law in Venezuela.
- Government takes over control of the Media: 75% of newspapers in Venezuela were shut down. 40 opposition radio stations were closed. The Government now controls all the major media, as do Russia and China, which includes blocking social media.
- The Government takes control of healthcare: The free healthcare that the Venezuelan Government promised resulted in the collapse of the entire healthcare system. There is a critical shortage of drugs and medical supplies in Venezuela, so doctors don’t have the necessary medication to treat patients.
- The Government becomes corrupted: Billions of dollars have been stolen from the people in Venezuela; huge revenues come into the Government from drug trafficking.Military personnel are likely paid off with some of that money to avoid a coup.
- Unemployment hits a new record: The Government of Venezuela promised more jobs, but unemployment reached 20% in just two years and continued to grow until one out of three people didn’t have a job. Unemployment is projected to hit 44% by 2023.
- Government sets price controls to stabilize the high cost of food and other items: In Venezuela, instead of lowering prices, it did the opposite; it made everything unbelievably expensive. There is a shortage of food, and many can only afford one meal a day while others are going hungry.
- The result of Socialism is higher inflation: We in America think 9% inflation is high. What about 65,000% inflation in Venezuela in 2019 on top of 1.3 million % the previous year? Under these inflationary conditions, the Government decides who gets to eat. Since Socialism took over, the GDP fell from 6% to a negative 14% in just three years.
- The Government restricts churches; The Government goes after Christians and other religious groups who oppose the policies of the Government.
- Personal income plunges: Before Socialism in Venezuela, the average income was over $18,000; by 2018, the average income had fallen by nearly $8,000, or by over 40%.
- Why not vote out Socialism and replace it with a democratic form of Government: According to news reports, opposition candidates are barred from running, jailed, or run out of the country. Few countries now support the Government in Venezuela. The ones that do are communist countries like Russia, China, Iran, and North Korea.
- At this point, the only solution for citizens of Venezuela is to leave the country: Hundreds of thousands have left Venezuela, and many have come to the United States. (Statistics via the Internet)
The problem with the far left in America is they won’t accept that Socialism does not work; They seem to ignore that it has not worked anywhere it has ever been tried. Tens of thousands of young men and women have sacrificed their lives to preserve the freedom we enjoy. Will we sit idle while a bunch of radical liberals tries to impose their brand of Socialism on us? America does have a solution. We can go to the polls in November and vote only for those candidates who support freedom and oppose Socialism, whether Republican or Democrat, that is if you can find a Democrat with those views. However, I don’t believe that the elected officials in Washington D.C. represent the views of most Democrats or Republicans since 72% of America believes that we are headed in the wrong direction. I believe in the two-party system, but it seems to me that we have a big problem in America with the two-party system that can’t seem to come together in the interest of all Americans. Pray that God will intervene in America before it is too late and America falls or comes under the judgment of God. Also pray that Christians go to the polls and vote. That alone could make a big difference in the outcome in November.
