AMERICA’S DANGEROUS ROAD TO DISASTER

Even liberal Congress as far back as January, 2016, realized that America was on the road to disaster. “Congress issued a screaming wakeup call regarding the dire state of our economic future in a Congressional Budget Office report outlining the ten-year federal budget and economic outlook. While it would be great if today’s candidates stood up and took notice, it seems we’ll only get more and more from reality star politicians. This isn’t going to end well for Gen Y.”

Going further back to 1996, the Rev. Billy Graham said, “America has gone a long way down the wrong road. We must turn around and go back and change roads. If ever we needed God’s help, it is now …” – Billy Graham, made this statement when he received the Congressional Gold Medal, May 2, 1996.

According to polls, over 70% of Americans believe America is going in the wrong direction. How can we know when the direction taken, or the road traveled, becomes so dangerous that an impending disaster could lie ahead? The history of other nations that have taken dangerous roads that resulted in their downfall is absolute proof. There are symptoms that warn there is danger. The fallen empires of the past all suffered similar symptoms. Rome was the last of the great empires that met its demise. So, the question is, does America have some of the same symptoms as past fallen empires, especially Rome? I say yes, and even more than Rome. Read on and see if you agree.

Rome’s Symptoms Leading to Disaster are Present in America

At its height in 44 BCE, Rome had conquered nation after nation and had become a vast empire spanning three continents. They only asked two things of the countries they conquered, taxes and soldiers to be recruited into the Roman army. Rome remained a strong and powerful nation as long as it abided by those things that produced strength and viability. Eventually, Rome became a wealthy nation living in luxury, as America is today. Whether their wealth and luxurious living contributed to their ultimate downfall is in question; perhaps to a degree, it did, but other symptoms were more devastating, which are similar to those in America.

Sexual perversion: According to historians, Rome had a significant problem with sexual perversion, including homosexuality: “The historical evidence [suggests] that homosexuality is a habit that appears in a society … that has been absolutely monogamous, and is relaxing. If that is correct, then the increasing prominence of homosexuality in our culture confirms ominously that America has strayed too far from the straight and narrow morality that invigorates cultures. To give homosexual couples the right to marry would be like taking another giant, virtually irrevocable step down the road to sexual anarchy and cultural ruin. Here [the above] are the distant consequences that threaten every marriage in our society; here is the reason why opposition to “gay marriage” is not based on prejudices, but on common sense.” – Unwin

I might add that all who oppose homosexuality are not homophobic. True believers, like myself, are compassionate toward them and pray that they will find a better way of life. I have a homosexual in my family who is close-kin that I pray for daily, and I certainly wish them no harm.

On the day of the writing of this article, President Joe Biden signed into effect the bill on same-sex marriage. Mr. Biden took advantage of the event to speak about and promote child pro-gender care. Gender change is the brutal act of physically altering a child’s gender. Children are too young and immature to decide on something so critical that will affect them all the rest of their life. Shame on Mr. Biden for advocating such a harmful and shameful procedure on children.

The following quote accurately defines the same-sex marriage bill: “The right to marriage enshrines and codifies an incorrect understanding of marriage into Federal law, further embedding it in the American legal fabric. It will encourage litigation against those who disagree and hold a traditional understanding of the union. It opens the door to further degradation of marriage, such as recognizing polygamous relationships.” The bill is primarily directed toward religious organizations restricting their rights to choose whom they hire for the church staff or for whom they perform marriage ceremonies. There is no doubt that the Bible’s standard for marriage is a male and a female: “But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female.” (Mark 10:6-9 – Read More…) – Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband ( 1 Corinthians 7:2).

Mr. Biden was not alone in his view of same-sex marriage:

The New England Patriots of the NFL and the Tampa Bay Rays and San Francisco Giants of Major League Baseball signed a brief in favor of same-sex marriage.
A total of 379 businesses and corporations signed on to this friend of the court brief to overturn marriage as the Bible outlines it.
Over 300 Republicans supported this effort to enact same-sex marriage equality.
2,000 so-called faith leaders have gone on record to defy Scripture and God to promote same-sex marriage.
Pastor Rob Bell, speaking with Oprah Winfrey, communicated that the church is very close to accepting the homosexual marriage and that the church is being irrelevant by using 2,000-year-old letters [New Testament] to defend a position against it.
Psychology Today Magazine bans ads for the treatment of unwanted same-sex attractions (Reparative/Conversion Therapy).
A Huffington Post columnist and 2016 candidate for the California Senate proposes LGBT homo-fascist police squads to enforce the gay agenda in California.
A Planet Fitness gym in Michigan welcomes a man into the women’s locker room due to their ‘no judgment’ policy. [1]

It is one thing when some support same-sex marriage, but what happens to a nation that sanctions it and codifies it into law? Time will tell.

With all the Bible verses above against homosexuality, you might wonder if homosexuals can go to heaven. Yes, they can! But they must repent, confess their sins, and trust in Jesus for forgiveness, just as all sinners must do to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Homosexuality, like all other sins except blasphemy of the Holy Spirit, is forgivable.

Rome became desensitized to violence: Thousands crowded the coliseum to be entertained by watching innocent people killed by wild animals. No moral leader could be found to change courses. So, in time the Roman Empire fell. America also has become desensitized to violence. The worst mass shooting in the United States occurred on October 1, 2017, in Las Vegas, at a country music concert. Fifty-eight people were killed, including the shooter, Stephen Melanson, and more than 850 others were wounded. Another gunman, 26-year-old Devin Patrick Kelley, killed 26 churchgoers in Texas on November 5, 2017. The mass shooting occurred around 11:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Sutherland Springs, about 30 miles southeast of San Antonio. the victims ranged in age from 5 to 72 years old, and about 20 people were hospitalized with injuries ranging from minor to “very severe.”

In 2022, at least 3,179 people were shot in mass shootings, resulting in 637 deaths and more than 2,500 injured. Ironically, most mass killings are barely reported by the liberal media and fail to gain the general public’s attention. Only massacres like that in El Paso, Odessa, Texas; Dayton, Ohio; Virginia Beach, Virginia; and Jersey City, New Jersey, seem to arrest the media’s attention.

The American people have grown tired of mass shooting headlines and rather not see them anymore. Compared to other countries, America leads the world in violent mass shootings by a large margin. The media pays less attention to Mass shootings, which have become commonplace. Hollywood movies are filled with violence. Violent video games entice children. Two of the most successful video games of the 21st century is “Grand Theft Auto” and “Call of Duty,” both capitalize off of violence. The same is true for many Hollywood films, where almost every movie has a high level of violence. When will something be done or is it like Rome; no one can be found with the moral fortitude to do something besides sighting guns as the reason.

Political Corruption & Instability: Government corruption in Rome became a big problem. Dishonest and incompetent government officials caused Roman citizens to quit trusting or supporting them. There was great division in government, mainly after Emperor Diocletian divided the Empire into two halves in hopes of creating more corporation and unity.

According to a recent Gallop poll: “Confidence in American politicians is down 24 percentage points from its peak in 1974, while confidence in the judgments of the American people is down 31 points [today] from its peak in 1976. Confidence in the American people has never been below 70% since 1974, the first year Gallup measured it [until presently [….] with all but one reading in the past eight years [being] below 60%.” Also, according to Gallop and Pew polls, only 16% trust News Papers anymore. Only 11% trust the news media. Only 17% trust Television. 50% believe fake news stories are a significant problem in America.

Political division since Biden took office has reached a historical high. The definition for political division: “A situation in a country when people are incapable of coming together to discuss how the country should be run due to excessive partisanship or ideology.” Political division is prominent in America today, and there is little ability to have a political agreement on anything of primary concern. At the same time, the people of America suffer because of the government’s inability to solve problems or even focus on their causes. When questioned about problems wrecking America, government officials, including the president of the United States, pass the blame and do nothing to address the problems.

Economic Issues: Rome was involved in too many costly wars, and government overspending drained the government’s reserves, which required raising taxes that hurt and angered ordinary Roman citizens. The Afghanistan and Iraqi wars have been estimated to have cost America over four trillion dollars, which America did not have, and which was added to the national debt now standing at a record high of over thirty trillion dollars. Ironically, little was accomplished by either of those wars.

Like Rome, America, over the years, has added additional taxes to cover the government’s excessive spending. It may come as a surprise to you, but individual Americans spend the first four months of each year paying their tax burden; that averages out to 25% of their salary and 32% of their time. For the Romans, taxation was not enough, so the government, in its need for money, began to coin more money, which devalued the currency and created inflation, causing a price increase on goods and placing additional burdens on the Roman people. That is precisely what is happening in America presently.

The Roman welfare system was somewhat like America’s, and it became one of the causes of the decline. The government began giving the poor and unemployed handouts to avoid a revolt over economic hardships. During that time, a phrase was coined to describe government giveaways, “Bread and Circus.” Thousands upon thousands lined up for free bread and other food. The result was it created a dependency on the government, and people were less willing to work. Does that sound familiar? The Biden administration has spent six trillion dollars in just two years, much of which has involved handouts. It has resulted in a labor shortage with fewer people willing to work, resulting in a failing economy.

According to a new study, the astoundingly bloated nature of America’s welfare state offers an explanation: “Conservative economists Stephen Moore, E.J. Antoni, and Casey Mulligan of the Committee to Unleash Prosperity analyzed what a typical four-person family, with two nonworking adults, could receive in welfare benefits, including both unemployment and healthcare subsidies, across the 50 states. They found that in three states, Washington, New Jersey, and Massachusetts, this typical family can earn the equivalent of more than $100,000 annually without working, thanks to various government programs. Meanwhile, in 14 states the benefits are equivalent to an $80,000 annual salary or more. In these states, welfare pays better than the typical job of a secondary school teacher or electrician, according to the study. In 24 states, languishing on welfare pays better than the typical salary earned by a firefighter, truck driver, or machinist.”

America’s Specific Symptoms Leading to Disaster

Drugs in America: Drug abuse is pandemic: According to the FBI, there are ten million pot users in America, four million amphetamine users, six million opiate users, one million heroin users, and one million cocaine users, for a total of twenty-two million Americans addicted to drugs. More than a hundred thousand to as many as hundreds of thousands of undocumented cases die each year from an overdose of fentanyl, which is included in other drugs. Fentanyl is manufactured in China, sent to Mexico, and then smuggled into the United States over the open border by the drug cartels in Mexico. The DEA seized enough fentanyl to kill every person in the U.S. in 2022 and that does not include the amount that got past them.

Forty-seven percent of those serving prison sentences are there for drug-related crimes. Instead of making laws to control illegal drugs, some states are legalizing them. For example, Oregon legalized all drugs and is now the worst state in the union for drug addiction, with twelve percent of its citizens addicted to some form of illegal drug. Much of the rising crime across America is tied to illicit drugs.

Evil in America: America is being overcome with evil. When evil breaks out in a nation, something must be done to stop it, but America does not have component leaders who will step up with plans to restrain it. Therefore, it continues to grow and threaten the peace and welfare of millions of Americans. Liberal politicians are attempting to control the sale of guns, thinking that is the answer, but that will not do the job. The government may develop laws that will take guns from law-abiding citizens, but the criminals and crazies will still get them through the black market, leaving law-abiding citizens defenseless. There are approximately three hundred million guns in America, but they alone are not the cause of the rise of evil; the evil doers are responsible. The best plan for reducing evil will take a long time to remedy; it must start with teaching children at a very young age the difference in right and wrong. Parents will have to take charge of their children and discipline and correct them. Parents will have to focus on raising their children instead of all the distractions with which they are presently involved.

Sinking economy: The loss of personal wealth is the worst since the Great Depression of the late 1920s & early 1930s. An estimated seven trillion dollars of personal wealth has been lost in the first three quarters of this year alone in bank accounts, real estate, investments, etc. There has been a three percent loss in wages and an eight percent loss in buying power because of inflation.

Division in America: How much more division can America stand before it breaks apart? President Abraham Lincoln said, “A house divide against itself cannot stand.” We hear about Division in America just about every day. It is a movement that is associated with both the left side and the right side of politics. By class, the division is about gender, race, sexuality, politics, religion, climate change, and immigration, etc. It shatters the once-strong fortress known as America and splits the country into pieces. President Lincoln’s warning has come to pass, America has become a house divided against itself, which, if continued, cannot stand. Neither side of the two party political system are willing to give an inch. Therefore, America has become a divided nation to the extreme.

Immorality in America: Things like promiscuity, fornication, homosexuality, cohabitation, having children outside wedlock, lying, cheating, abortion, etc. are commonplace and practiced in America without shame. The stigma of the past against such things is gone. These are among the things that lead a nation down a dangerous road toward destruction. The America that once knew and worshiped the God of the forefathers is no more, and instead money has become a god that matters more than anything else. Few in government ever mention God upon which the country was founded. Voters are no longer concerned about sexual morality, integrity, and character when they go to the polls. In the mind of many, what makes the difference anymore concerning the character and moral conduct of candidates? To many, other issues are at the center of importance. Has America forgotten that every person will one day stand in judgment before God and give account for their conduct while on earth?

There was a time in my life when only a few would have condoned sin as gross and immoral as homosexuality. As I mentioned earlier, just this week, the President of the United States placed his signature on the same-sex marriage bill, which is another indication of the depth of American society’s depravity, degeneracy, and decadence. Mr. Biden claims to be a Christian. Ironically, at the very heart of true Christianity is honesty, virtue, moral purity, goodness, moral straightness, which does not condone sin. I do not know another person’s heart and cannot judge their relationship with God, but I do wonder how anyone can condone sin and, at the same time, call themselves a Christian. Could they be illiterate concerning the Bible and not in tune with Almighty God? According to statistics, many are Christians in name only and are tuned to the accepted morals of society. What has happened to honesty and integrity in America? The lack of integrity has integrated itself into government until it is hard to know the truth anymore. Lying has become the standard, and corruption is embedded deeply in politics and government.

Defiance of God and the Bible: America today stands in defiance of Almighty God and His Word, the Bible. Below are some quotes by famous men of the past that constitutes a warning to America:

It was the general principles of the Bible and Christianity upon which the forefathers founded America, the land of the free, and secured its independence. Today, people are no longer interested in God or the Bible; they prefer entertainment, the Internet, the news, and TV. We need not wonder why America is in such a mess. Dependence upon God and His Word makes a nation great, but America has kicked God and the Bible out of its institutions and the public square. Like Thomas Jefferson said in the quote above, “that his [God’s] justice cannot sleep forever.” Expect God’s judgement if America continues down the dangerous road toward destruction.
