What Does the Future Hold for America?

I am writing this essay after the re-election of President Barack Obama. One thing has become quite evident now, and that is the logistics have changed in America for electing a president.  John Stineman, a Republican strategist from Iowa, said, “Clearly, when you look at African-American and Latino voters, they went overwhelmingly for the president, and that’s certainly a gap that’s going to require a lot of attention from Republicans.” Also, women and young people went strongly for President Obama. So the question of the day is: What does the future hold for America? Especially in view of the new order prevalent in America. In the first place, you don’t have to be a fortune teller to have a clear idea as to what is coming. There is enough evidence at hand to have a fair idea as to what the future holds. I think that there are some specific things that can begin to happen quickly, and I’ll cover them in this essay.

So, it seems that my logic that I wrote before the election, not original with me but based on what I read that others were saying, was correct that the group that would carry Obama over the top was a mixed group with a different philosophy from that of people in the past who elected presidents, primarily the whiter, older, and more monolithic electorate.

Recently there was an article posted on Yahoo News entitled “The GOP Flaw” which states:  “Younger voters and minorities came to the polls at levels not far off from the historic coalition Obama assembled in 2008. The reality caught off-guard Republicans who banked on a more monolithic voting body sending them to the White House — and who had based their polling on that assumption.” The new philosophy that is dominating American opinion is socialistic. President Obama’s philosophy is in harmony with the new thinking generation. This new influential group, made up primarily of blacks, Latinos, women and young people are going to dominate in years to come, and will have changed the logistics as to what it will require to elect a president in the future.

The philosophy that has built a strong America based on freedom, liberty and justice for all, and in God we trust is being replaced with the philosophy of a stronger Federal Government with more control, and especially one offering more in terms of free handouts. This type of government will require more taxation in order to fulfill the expectations of this newly dominate group, so there is going to be heavier taxation on the wealthy which  will in turn shift the wealth from those who have to those who have not, one of the primary concerns of the new order of politicians including Obama. America no longer will be a nation where hard work and personal ingenuity are rewarded, but instead a nation who rewards free loaders and illegal aliens at the expenses of those who are hard working and deserving.

It will no doubt be an enigma to future generations how Obama was ever elected  president with no former track record as a leader, questionable academics and false, empty promises. It will be even more of an enigma as to why he was re-elected on a failed first four year term which further emphasized his lack of leadership. My answer is that he was elected and then re-elected because it was predetermined in heaven. God has his own agenda which is different from ours. America’s drift away from God in the last several decades, if continued, will require a judgment from God. What the nature of that judgment will be is yet to be seen, but it is certain, at least in my mind that current events, which can’t be understood,  are leading up to that judgment.

As I wrote in the former article, “Obama will be re-elected and become the most powerful president in history?”  America will be overjoyed, but deceived by the coming period of prosperity, which I believe will drive America even further away from God. Obama could become a demagogue, (a leader who makes use of popular prejudices and false claims and promises in order to gain power) and, as a result, could receive a third and even fourth term with an amendment to the Constitution. Although, that is unlikely, it sets up a precedence, never considered before, that there is at least a possibility of such an event in the future.

Apparently we that believe in the traditional America, “A government by the people for the people” will see that tradition replaced by a centralized government that decides what is best for the people. I don’t believe that a march on Washington as real estate mogul Donald Trump has suggested, will be the answer. The root problem that America faces is not actually based on a president, but rather on America’s failure to recognize a faith and trust in Almighty God. The answer to the dilemma America faces presently and in the future is a return to God as the source of our greatness and our strength.

America is like Nineveh, a city state we read about in the Old Testament of the Bible. God sent the prophet Jonah to warn Nineveh of God’s impending judgment on them for their rebellion against Him. To Jonah’s surprise Nineveh repented and turned to God, and God spared them from judgment. God has already sent several prophets to warn America, and America has ignored the warnings. Unlike Nineveh, America has not repented and turned to God.

What does the future hold for America? It will be in my opinion good news mixed with bad news. The good news will be a resurgence of the economy, especially the stock market.  The bad news is there will be a more centralized Federal Government styled after modern socialism, and a continued falling away from God with the approval of more and more issues that are contrary to the Bible, and a continued downward moral spiral which will eventually lead to God’s judgment on America.

Conclusion

What can you and I do? We can support our president, whomever he is, in those things in which we agree, and we can also pray for him. Nevertheless, personally I believe that we that hold traditional views concerning freedom and the government’s limited role in the life of its citizens will be over ruled in time by a new mixed generation which is more in line with President Obama’s philosophy of socialism. I believe it will take a New Great Awakening in America to turn things back to the principals on which America was established and on which it became the great nation which it is today. Individually, in view of God’s impending judgment on America, you need to develop your own personal relationship with God and follow the precepts of his Word.  For more information on this topic, see my article, “Obama will be re-elected and become the most powerful president in history?”
