What is the fate of the United States?

While no one knows for sure the details of the fate of America, there are present signs that resemble cracks in integrity that could lead to the nation’s end or at least the end as a world leader. Those same cracks were precursors to the fall of other great countries in history, namely Rome, as we shall see further down in this article. Much like Rome, economic turmoil, political corruption and fracture, and social pressures, will contribute to the future of the United States and to its possible demise. Like Rome, Americans no longer trust the government or its leaders. Recent reports show that 75% of Americans do not trust the government to do the right thing. 

Most Bible scholars believe that the Bible refers to at least 15 specific nations that play roles in the end-time events (e.g., Israel, Iran, Russia, China, and as many as eleven other nations). Several biblical passages refer to God’s final dealings with “all the nations.” One example is found in Haggai 2:7, where the Lord, through the Hebrew prophet, foretold that He would “shake all nations” in the last days. Obviously, in 2021 the United States was shaken in several ways politically, physically, financially, socially, and spiritually. Still, probably the worst is yet to come if America stays on its present course. The most damning problem is, America has drifted far away from God. The late Dr. Walter F. Tunks of the University of Akron once said. “In the last six thousand years, there have been twenty-one civilizations, and every one of them have gone on the rocks precisely at the point where they let go of God.” If the history of other nations is any indication of what may happen, America, who has let go of God, needs to take heed. America as it presently exists cannot last. Based on the history of other nations, only repentance and returning to God will save America from God’s impending judgment. 

With all the evidence history offers for the downfall of nations, why is it that governments continue to repeat the same offenses toward God? There is only one valid answer, and it is quite simple: It is because of man’s sinful, fallen nature, which is an estrangement from God. Strangely enough, leaders of nations, along with its people, do not realize this.

The great historian Edward Gibbon, who by the way was not a Christian, gave five reasons for the

Decline and fall of the Roman Empire, which accurately describes America today: 

1. “The rapid increase of divorce and the undermining of the dignity and sanctity of the home, which is the basis of human society.” In America today, about one out of every three marriages end in divorce.

A New York City school, that charges $57,000 a year tuition, sent a guide to parents of their students encouraging them to conform to gender identity ideology, which is a strong movement in America today. Students were to stop referring to their parents as “mom” and “dad” or using any other words that distinguish gender such as he or she, girl or boy, man or woman, etc. That is an attack on human dignity and the dignity of the home.

The most vital institution is the institution of the family. “The first institution that God established was the family. He had a perfect plan and unfortunately, we as imperfect people have added our own ‘two cents’ to the plan and the home has become a place of disorder, chaos and frustration.  The complete opposite of what God intended,” – The Confident Mom.

Denzel Washington, when asked why blacks have such a problem in America, replied, “It starts in the home; children need a father.” He went on to give an example of how his two friends growing up went into a life of crime, He took another course because he had a father to guide him, and they did not.

2. “Higher and higher taxes and the spending of public monies on bread and circuses.” About 60% of the people of Rome were ultimately depending on the government for food. With the American family already loaded with taxes, being taxed on everything imaginable, the present administration wants to add additional taxes to finance their program of government giveaways, providing money and food in some instances to people who are too lazy to work, following the same pattern as Rome.

3. “The mad craze for pleasure and sport; sport becoming every year more and more exciting and brutal.” It seems that pleasure and sports in America are the most important things in life to many. Those providing the entertainment, movie stars and athletes, have become the highest paid in America, making incomes in the multi millions of dollars per year. George Clooney was offered 35 million dollars for one day’s work.

4. “The building of gigantic armaments when the real enemy is within—in the decadence of the people themselves.” We live in a day when America has to have armaments for protection from other nations with evil intents. However, more serious is decadence in America, characterized by excessive indulgence in pleasure or luxury resulting in a moral or cultural decline, and less of a will among the leaders and people of America to defend the security of the Nation. The present administration has opened the southern border to nations around the world, allowing criminals, the drug cartel, terrorists, and Human Traffickers of women and children to enter America freely, creating a security risk like never before known in this country.

• “The decay of religious faith; faith fading into mere form which has lost all contact with reality.” According to statistics, people have been leaving the church in droves in recent years. About a third have quit going to church in the last two years because of Covid-19. The Bible forewarns in the last days some will leave the church denying their faith, 1 Timothy 4:1.

If anyone can’t see all five of those things actively present today in America, they must be blind to reality.

The big question is why the United States of America is never mentioned in Bible prophecy? There may be two possible scenarios: First, the United States does not play an essential role in the end-time because it is no longer a leading nation internationally. Second, the United States does not exist once the end-time events begin. Those two scenarios, including several suppositions, make up the topic of this article. Scenarios and suppositions are only possibilities and are not to be taken as facts on what might actually happen even though they are based on existing facts that could possibly indicate the future. 

I. The first scenario is, the United States is not a leading international power during the end-time events? I mention three suppositions as to the reason:

• The end of the U.S. dollar as the world reserve currency 

The Allied Nations, in 1944, at the Bretton Woods Conference in New Hampshire, constructed the post-war monetary order. Because America was the world’s preeminent superpower, all agreed that the U.S. Dollar would officially be recognized as the global reserve currency, though unofficially it had already held this status since 1925. That meant that the bulk of international transactions would now be conducted in U.S. Dollars. Massive amounts of U.S. dollars would be held in the world’s central banks. Today, 60% of global reserves and 80% of international payments are constituted in the U.S. Dollar. For example, if other countries want to purchase oil from OPEC, they must convert their currency into U.S. Dollars to pay for their order.

This current monetary system allows America to pay with printed dollars for goods and services from other countries. No other government could print enormous sums of their money to pay for imports. Otherwise, their currency’s value would crash on the foreign exchange market. Only because the USD’s reserve currency status demands an unlimited demand for dollars can America continue printing money to pay its debts and buy foreign goods and services. 

Without the status of being the world currency, the goods made in foreign countries and American-made products using imported materials sold in America would be from two to five times more expensive than they are presently. The U.S. runs trade deficits with almost every country in the world. Ironically, other countries send their goods to the U.S., and the U.S. pays them with printed money. That has resulted in the U.S. Dollar losing its buying power resulting in goods sold in this country being much higher than they were fifty or sixty years ago. We refer to this as inflation.

It is to be noted that the U.S. Dollar is not the world’s first reserve currency and is not likely to be the last. If you consider the average time the previous five countries, Portugal, Spain, Netherlands, France, and the U.K., held the status of world reserve currency, it averages 95 years each. Based on history, the U.S. dollar, now the world reserve currency for 88 years, is very close to losing its status. When this happens, it will lead to imports costing Americans much more, which will halt the U.S. government from printing vast sums of money. The federal government will be forced to downsize to avoid drastic amounts of yearly deficits.

When that happens, and America can no longer print money to pay its debts, it will cause a chain reaction resulting in Americans accepting reductions in their benefits, those who receive federal aid such as Social Security, Federal employees’ wages, and pensioners. While the American dollar is plummeting on foreign markets, it will create chaos in the stock market and on the streets of America. If things continue as they are, this could happen in the very near future.

(2) An unprecedented financial crisis of pheromonal proportions 

According to beincrypto.com/, “The Federal Reserve is printing One million dollars every second. It’s balance sheet increased by $586.1 billion last week to a record total of $5.24 trillion. Which is $84 billion a day and $60 million printed per minute.”

In 1998, a Hedge fund known as Long-Term Capital Management was bailed out by Wall Street to prevent a meltdown of the global financial system. Due to the housing industry collapse of 2008, the world’s Central Bank bailed out Wall Street. What if the Central Bank needed bailing out? Then what’s next?

Since 2008, over 12 trillion dollars have been printed to prop up the financial system. All this is at the expense of the general public, which is being paid for with the highest inflation in nearly 40 years. Obviously, our monetary system is broken, but what would it take to fix it? That is the sixty-four-thousand-dollar question. The nation, corporations, and the general public are historically indebted. The average family credit card debt is around $16,000, and The Federal debt has now reached 28 trillion dollars. Ironically, Congress is presently, trying to pass a multi-trillion-dollar bill that could increase the national debt, increase taxes, and ultimately sink the U.S. financially. All of this together could force the International Monetary fund to supplant the U.S. Dollar as the world’s reserve currency, which would be catastrophic for the United States.

(3) America is no longer what it was back when the founders envisioned a great America:

In 2020, American’s wereduped into believing that once Joe Biden was elected as President of the United States, everything would be okay again. We now know that 2021 was one of the worst years on record on several fronts, resulting in Joe Bidden having the worst approval numbers in the history of any other president at this point. 

I don’t think our founding fathers were blind to our present predicament. They were well aware of human nature, and the likelihood of how banks would be misused, overindulgences rampant, and the greedy pursuit of material things could bring America down in the future. It is incredible how far things have gone from what they used to be even in my lifetime. I’ve seen America go from self-sufficiency and limited government intervention to dependence on government handouts. Socialism is a dependency on the government at the cost of loss of freedom. The late Dr. J. Vernon McGee said over 32 years ago that America was closer to socialism than most realized. I wonder what he would say today when the radical left is leading the nation down the road to Socialism like never before. Socialist Bernie Sanders is the author of the “Build Back Better Socialists Bill.” 

The United States who helped the world free itself from Nazi domination in the 1940s, is now hated by some of those same nations who now want to destroy America. The Russians are using military attack viruses to disable the United States’ computer systems. In 2021, an oil pipeline’s computers were hacked by the Russian’s causing a shortage of Gas on the Eastern coast. In 2010 a Russian military-grade virus was discovered in the NASDAQ operating system. Recently, Corporation’s computer systems have been hacked by the Russians; in turn, the hackers demanded ransom in the millions of dollars to restore the computers. There is fear that the critical power grid and the U.S. infrastructure will fall to the same destructive behavior. What has America done about this? Absolutely nothing.

Today, China and Russia are on an aggressive push to claim independent nations, possibly drawing the world into a worldwide conflict leading to a possible holocaust. It will take some wise and powerful leadership for America to keep from self-destructing or being defeated by our enemies in the not-so-far-away future. I love America and believe we could rebound; America has what it takes, more than any other nation, minus strong, wise leadership. Where have all the great leaders gone, like Washington and Lincoln. I pray the God will send us such a leader before time runs out for America and judgement falls.

II. The second scenario is that the United States does not exist when the end-time events begin. There are three suppositions to consider:

• America will face God’s judgment for turning from Him to worship idols.

“America is almost a reflection of Israel. Israel crossed the Red Sea to get to the Promised Land. Our founders crossed the sea to get to America. Israel and America were both divided between the North and the South. Israel had 13 tribes; America had 13 colonies,” – Evangelist Perry Stone.

America shares another relationship with Israel: The United States and Israel are the two most blessed nations in the history of the world. Like Israel, God placed a hedge of protection around the United States. Israel was protected from their enemies as long as they were faithful to God. When they turned from God to worship Idols, God removed His hedge of protection. The Assyrians attacked the Northern Kingdom, which did significant damage to the infrastructure. The leaders downplayed the attack stating they would build back better than before, Isaiah 9:10: “The bricks are fallen down, but we will build with hewn stones: the sycamores are cut down, but we will change them into cedars.” 

Ironically, the above statement is primarily the same statement made by President Obama, which fulfilled Isaiah 9:10 prophecy again. When Obama visited Ground Zero, he scrawled a handwritten message on a steel beam, “We remember,” he wrote. “We rebuild. We come back stronger!” It sounds optimistic at first glance. However, according to Jonathan Cahn’s best-selling book, “The Harbinger,” it is a pattern of American leaders fulfilling Isaiah’s ancient biblical prophecy concerning Israel and including an impending judgment on the United States. 

When the Assyrians attacked the Northern Kingdom the second time, they took Israel away into captivity, scattering them and selling them off as slaves. The Northern Kingdom never returned as a nation again. The southern kingdom of Israel also rebelled against God, turning to worship Idols, and was taken into Babylonian captivity for 70 years. They did return to the land but lost their autonomy as a nation for 2500 years, only to become an autonomous nation again as late as 1948. If God judged His chosen people this harshly, do you think He will let America off with its offences against Him?

In Isaiah 10:5, God used the Assyrians as a switch to discipline His chosen People, the Northern Kingdom of Israel. In the following verse, verse 6, He uses a nation from the north to punish another country, referred to as a people of my wrath. I believe the government to the north of Israel is Russia. If you draw a line directly north from Israel, it will lead to Russia. The people of God’s wrath could very well be the United States. When the U.S. fought Vietnam, it was Russia they fought who ultimately won and humiliated the United States. In North Korea, it was China that also won. Whether or not the United States is referred to in Isaiah, it is for sure that the United States is now the people of God’s wrath, and if there is no repentance, there will be judgment.

Like Israel, America has turned from God to worship Idols not made of wood or stone but just as real. America’s idols are wealth, luxury, pleasure, entertainment, and sports. Again, according to Jonathon Kahn, God removed the hedge of protection from America on September 11, 2001. A terrorist organization from the Assyrian stock attacked and destroyed the twin towers in New York City, killing almost 3000 people. America responded, like Israel, saying “We will build back better.” In his book, “The Harbinger,” Kahn said that the 911 attack was God’s warning judgment on America. Without repentance, God’s full judgment could fall on America; that could mean the end.

• The second supposition is that America could become so weak militarily that it could no longer stand up against Russia or China especially if the two unite against the United States.

John F. Kennedy’s said in his first inaugural address: “let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and the success of liberty.”

I mentioned the Kenedy quote to show the difference in America’s ability and determination during the 60s compared to todays. During the 60s, America was at its zenith as a world power. America backed down Russia during the Cuba missile crisis, and the same superiority enabled the United States to turn back the Soviet challenge to Berlin in 1961. Someone labeled America as a paper tiger, and Nikita Khrushchev replied that the paper tiger had nuclear teeth. At that time, America was superior on land, air, and at sea militarily. Since 1964, Russia’s defense spending increased over 40 percent, while the United States declined 18 percent. Russia is now superior in all three areas militarily: They have far more missiles, tanks, ships, planes, and twice as many men in uniform as America. Today, even with NATO, it would be a tremendous challenge to restrain Russia in a Westward push, which could start with an invasion of Ukraine. The weaker America becomes the more we appease our enemies. Ronald Reagon said. “We have peace through strength.” The Democrats are notoriously weak on the military.

Russia’s world view is changing now that they possess a substantial military advantage. It would be dangerous to assume that her growing military power would not negatively impact Soviet behavior in international politics, which is already beginning. We presently see that Putin is demanding changes to NATO’s and America’s presence, militarily, in the Eastern hemisphere. If his demands are granted, it would markedly decrease America’s defensive power in that area, further diminishing America as a world superpower. U.S Secretary of State Blnken said last Friday, January 7, “Russia seeks to challenge the international system itself and to unravel our trans-Atlantic alliance, erode our unity, and pressure democracies into failure.” He gave a list of offending Russian activity, including military intervention in Ukraine and Georgia, chemical weapons attacks on Putin critics, election interference in the United States and other places, cybercrime, and support for dictators.

A former supreme commander of NATO on what Putin is up to in Ukraine said, “President Vladimir Putin has several objectives. He wants to appear strong and decisive to his domestic base; divide the U.S. and NATO over the response to a potential strike; impress his allies, especially President Xi Jinping of China; prevent Ukraine from joining NATO and the E.U., tying them to Russia’s sphere of influence; and make the Biden administration appear weak and indecisive in the run-up to the 2021 midterms—especially after the U.S. failed to support former ally Afghanistan.”

There is also a big difference in how America views a nuclear war from that of present-day Russia. Americans believe that nuclear war is inconceivable. Even though Russia recently joined four other nations, including the United States, declaring nuclear war was not an option, they in no way can be trusted. Russia believes they could win and survive a nuclear encounter with the United States, which, by the way, is insane. Common sense tells us no one wins in a nuclear exchange.

There is no longer a question concerning Russia’s defense capabilities. They now can contest American presence anywhere in the world. Russia is no longer just a continental threat. Today they are a global threat, perhaps in the future with the ability to enforce Russian foreign policy all over the world. Putin, a former KGB agent, has a goal of bringing Russia back to its former glory as the United Soviet Union. I’m afraid he won’t be stopped with words or threats coming from Joe Biden.

• The third supposition is, nuclear missiles could destroy America.

As I mentioned above, today, Monday January 3, 2022, China, France, Russia, the UK and the US have agreed that a nuclear war “cannot be won and must never be fought.” It is good to know that the world’s five leading nuclear powers pledged to prevent the proliferation of nuclear arms and have pledged that nuclear war is not an option. However, that is no guarantee that it won’t happen since both China and Russia cannot be trusted in anything they say. Both China and Russia have hypersonic weapons, if operational, could strike with little notice, enabling unprecedented global first-strike capabilities. There are no satellite weapons presently, although the technology for such weapons presently exists. If there were such weapons, they could destroy America’s power grid, which in turn would kill millions of Americans and disable America’s ability for a military response.

During the end-time events, Russia, China, and over a dozen other countries will gather at Armageddon to attack Israel. God will come to Israel’s defense and rain down fire from heaven, destroying the Russian army along with the rest; this could result in the Russians at home believing the strike came from the United States and respond with a full nuclear attack destroying the United States.

I love America and certainly hope that none of the above happens. My prayer is that America will repent and turn back to God.
