The Only Worldview with Hope

We all have a worldview. Presuppositions, upbringing, culture, education, media, movies and even video games form Worldviews. Worldviews often go beyond deliberate choice; they may just be absorbed by osmosis from the culture around us. Many would be unable to defend what they believe concerning the meaning and purpose of life; their worldview is a mesh mash of their experiences and the influences around them. On the other hand, the Bible worldview is learned and based on what Scripture teaches and is the only worldview that promises hope. The seven basic truths that support a Biblical worldview:

  • God exists, (Heb. 11:6)
  • The Bible is God’s divinely inspired Word, (2 Tim. 3:16).
  • God created everything that exists, (Gen.1:1).
  • God holds everything together, (Col. 1:17).
  • God came to earth and lived in the human body of Jesus Christ 2,000 years ago, (Col. 1:19).
  • In the Garden of Eden, Mankind chose to rebel against God and because of that act of rebellion, sin and death entered the world, (Rom. 5:12-14).
  •  Believing in Jesus Christ is the only way to have eternal life or to be reunited with God, (John 3:15-19, 5:24), (Luke 8:21, John 3:20, John 14:21, 23-24), (Acts 4:10-12).

God Exists

Whether Gods exists or not, in the mind of a person, is the basis for all other presuppositions that compose a worldview. If there is no God, in a person’s mind, the random choice or natural selection theory of Darwin is the only other alternative. Since natural selection eliminates any higher authority, there are no absolutes, no morals, no right or wrong, therefore, only meaningless and hopelessness remains.

A belief in God forms the basis for a Biblical worldview and the evidence of God’s presence is all around us:

  • In the complexity of earth’s self-sustaining design, along with the perfect size and supporting functions of the moon, life is perfectly sustained.
  • In the universe: The universe had to have a beginning. Who started the universe, and who sustains it with an unchanging set of laws?
  • In the human body: The DNA code informs and programs a cell’s behavior with laws that are undeniable perfect.
  • In his revelation within us, He pursues us and creates a Devine knowledge within us of his existence. We are innate beings of worship, regardless of whom or what we choose to worship.
  • In his son: More than any other way, God revealed himself through his son Jesus Christ.

The Bible is God’s divinely inspired Word to mankind

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: (2 Tim. 3:16)

Since the time written, the Bible remains true. Although, science and historians, from time to time, present reasons why the Bible is not true scientifically or historically, their reasons are always proven wrong. I have written several articles, listed below, that give the reasons why we know the Bible is the word of God:

God created all things

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. (Gen.1:1)

“For by him [Christ] all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.” (Col. 1:17)

There are two theories for creation: creationism (intelligent design) as indicated by Gen 1:1 and Col. 1:17, and random selection (evolution). Since intelligent design or evolution has no human witnesses, they both can only be accepted by faith. There are some who refuse to accept the idea of a supernatural being with omnipotent powers to create a universe and all that it contains; therefore, the only other option for them is evolution that goes against all reason or logic. Some believe evolution because they do not want to believe in God. With the present day advances in science, many scientists no longer believe evolution, but neither do they believe creationism.

Even when a scientific law, the second law of thermodynamics,  proves that things left to themselves do not develop but degenerate, evolutionists still teach that things do improve through mutations and evolve from lower forms to higher forms. However, Science cannot explain how there are certain precise, incontrovertible laws which control everything in the universe, including the human body, when it would be more practical to expect random selection also to be randomly changing without any strict patterns.

God holds everything together

He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. (Col. 1:17)

Atoms are the substance of all matter. Atoms consist of a nucleus and electrons that swirl around the nucleus at high speeds. What holds these atoms together is a mystery to science.

Sir Isaac Newton was 24 years old when he discovered that all bodies of matter possess a mutual attraction, what we call gravity, that makes things fall downward instead of up. That also keeps us from flying off the earth, which is spinning through space at a speed of nearly 67,000 mph.

In Colossians 1:16-17 we are told that Christ is the gravity that holds things together, “For by him [Christ] all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.”

It is quite amazing that Christ is the Power behind the universe, which he created, and the power we call gravity that holds things together!

God revealed himself to us when he came to earth as Jesus Christ

For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross, (Colossians 1:19-20). The greatest news to humanity is that God through His Son, Jesus Christ, is reconciling the world to Himself. He is forgiving and awarding eternal life to those who accept His offer of forgiveness.

Sin and death entered the world because Mankind chose to rebel against God. Death through Adam, Life through Christ:

Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned—

To be sure, sin was in the world before the law was given, but sin is not charged against anyone’s account where there is no law.  Nevertheless, death reigned from the time of Adam to the time of Moses, even over those who did not sin by breaking a command, as did Adam, who is a pattern of the one to come, (Romans 5:12-14).

According to Scripture, believing in Jesus Christ is the only way to have eternal life or to have a relationship with God.

Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. (Acts 4:12)

“Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged, but has crossed over from death to life. (John 5:24)

Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life, and no man cometh to the Father but by me. (John 14:6)

If you have a desire to have a relationship with God and receive his forgiveness and promise of eternal life, you can do that right now today. Jesus said, “Behold; I stand at the door of your heart and knock. He who hears my voice and opens the door, I will come into him.”19 If this is your desire, but you do not know how to word your request, this may help:

“Jesus, I believe you died for my sins and rose from the grave. I want to turn from my life of sin and receive your forgiveness. Please come into my life right now and forgive me. Thank you for forgiving me and saving me. Amen.”

When God comes into a person’s life, it is permanent. Jesus Christ said, “I know them, and they follow me; and I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish, and no one shall snatch them out of my hand.”

If you prayed the prayer above, believing in your heart that Jesus died and rose again to pay your sin debt and confessing Him as your Lord and savior, I am truly thankful. I want to help you in your newfound relationship with him. Please click the link below to indicate that you have prayed the prayer above, and I will send you some material, which I think you will find very helpful:

I just prayed and asked Jesus into my life (Please send me some helpful information)…

I’m thinking about asking Jesus into my life, but please explain it more fully…

I have a question or want to leave a comment…
