A Christian that received considerable media scrutiny lately was Tim Teabow. The media or the sports world do not get it. They cannot believe that a tough hard playing UFL quarterback could possibly claim to be a virgin with no embarrassment, and be a softhearted caring person off the field. Perhaps they think a Christian is someone who is supposed to be home on the couch watching Billy Graham re-runs on TV and certainly not an NFL quarterback. Much of the world has an erroneous concept concerning Christianity. Christians are supposed to be meek or in other words weak and spineless. That could not be further from the truth.

I had a pastor friend who was a former Green Beret; another Christian friend, who worked for me, was a former Army Ranger. I have two Christian friends who are retired colonels, one Army and one an Air Force pilot. Christianity is filled with courageous people. The last century there was more Christians martyred for their stand for Christ than all past centuries combined. The apostles of Jesus all lost their lives because of their Christian faith, except the apostle John, who was exiled to a lonely island to live out the remainder of his life.

Today courageous men and women go as missionaries to predominantly Muslim countries where sharing their faith is extremely dangerous and sometimes gets they killed. I have a missionary friend who has sacrificed his freedom to live in a communist country in order to share his faith with people hungry for the gospel, yet under the bondage of communism. To be a Christian in the present day often brings ridicule. Christians are made fun of and mocked by many. Christians are the bravest noblest people I have ever known. I find it an honor to be associated with them and counted as one of them.
